My Running Adventures
Finding Inspiration in Every Turn
As a child susan grew up watching her Dad and his fitness regime. Be it trekking, cycling or swimming, he was an inspiration and a motivator who helped many youngsters achieve their fitness goals. So was her brother who was an Athlete. When Susan was young she was not exactly into sports, was an average, at it. And most definitely was a book worm. Always got lost in her novels .Though she did participate in school events (was part of the School band, and the March Past at the Interschools). At College was a member of the NSS (National service scheme) and loved going out on camps . Though she remembers, that the most part of her high school days, being close to fitness, would have been her daily walks to & fro from home to School, which was atleast 2.3 kms one way. So a total of give and take 5kms both ways daily, keeping in mind her wandering off to her friends houses and joining them to and fro to school. She says, 'Those walks were the best part of her daily routine, back then' . Good old days!
Her Father encouraging her to read and look at articles mentioning the national running team and runners from our Country India, like P.T.Usha, Saramma, Shiny Wilson and Vandana Rao and Late Milkha Singh she says were the initial seeds sown in her. And then on one side was Mohammed Ali, the greatest all time boxer and Carl Lewis who her dad spoke about often and read to her articles and showed her posters of them, and then on the other end her brother was a big fan of Bruce Lee, Sylvester Stallone and Arnold Schwarzenegger. Having a Brother she says made her get influenced by his movie idols, choices and imitations. she ended up watching most of his movies Though the fitness bug kicked in only in college. The Community Gym and the inroads inside the quarters helped her perhaps to kickstart a passion for her runs and walks. And as one gets married and has the first child the typical tamasha or rather drama starts with wanting to lose weight, as it did to her. More of her takes on the weight loss tamasha, her running adventures and how her mind was cleared on having a clean fitness regime and a healthy food habits coming up in her future blogs. Please stay glued.
